The Forum Newsweekly is a weekly newspaper published every-other Wednesday in Shreveport, Louisiana. The news-magazine is also known as Forum, Forum Magazine and The Forum.

History

The Forum News is owned and published by Venture Publishing, Inc. of Shreveport. The Forum began publication by its current owner Jay Covington, originally of East Texas, in 1988. Forum has a bi-weekly circulation of 23,000 copies and is audited annually by CVC.

The newsmagazine is distributed in Caddo, Bossier, De Soto, Webster, Claiborne and Red River parishes in northwest Louisiana. It is also distributed in Harrison, Marion and Gregg counties in east Texas.

In 2006 a lifestyles publication, CityLife Magazine, was added. The monthly publication has a circulation of 12,000.

The Forum covers Ark-La-Tex news, politics, views, arts and entertainment. The magazine includes seasoned journalists such as Lou Gehrig Burnett, Chuck Fellers, and Marty Carlson. Political consultant, pollster, and political analyst Elliott Stonecipher has also contributed.

The late Shreveport historian Eric John Brock wrote the column "A Look Back" for the publication.[1]

Other The Forum contributors included from 2004 to 2008 Lane Crockett, the former entertainment editor and theater critic for The Shreveport Times.[2]
