Welcome to /hgg2D/ family of threads and the Newcomer's Guide. When through reading this guide you will be yet another well informed, masturbation god of hgg2d! >>>>>>>>>>Sections<<<<<<<<<< [pt.01] Basic Guidelines for Posting [pt.02] Japanese Locale, RPGMaker RTPs, and You [pt.03] Places to Find Games [pt.04] How to Navigate Yourself in Japanese Games [pt.05] How to Apply Translation Patches >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< >>>>>>>>>> [pt.01] Basic Guidelines of Posting <<<<<<<<< - /hgg2D/ is for the discussion of 2D Hentai Games, translations, developers, etc. It is not for tech support because you were too dumb to read this in its entirety or use google. - If you have a game you wish to discuss make sure it primarily features pixelated or drawn art and has an activity beyond clicking/mashing through text boxes such as traveling through a map or combat. - With the above in mind "straightly played" Visual Novels are NOT in their proper place with /hgg2d/ or are /hgg2d/s area of interest. - DON'T POST UNCENSORED IMAGES. Open up Paint and get creative or use another site like imgur if you want to post a picture that has half a girl's ass and pussy hanging out. - Don't bring in drama from outside! Don't stir shit up for no reason! - If you're going to use a name or a trip, make sure there's a good reason for it! - Please refrain from roleplaying, circlejerking, avatarfagging, or overtly autistic behavior. - UPDATE YOUR ARCHIVER BEFORE COMPLAINING ABOUT CORRUPT DOWNLOADS >>>>>>>>>> [pt.02] Japanese Locale, RPGMaker RTPs, and You <<<<<<<<<< The first and most vital part of playing Japanese games is making sure you're running in Japanese system locale! This is the preferred method for ensuring the proper operation of and display of text in Japanese applications. System Locale falls under Time/Region/Language Settings in Windows. If you're using Linux, then follow this guide. https://pastebin.com/21Yi6vnt Applocale and Locale Emulator may work for you without changing your system locale, but don't bother asking for help in the threads if they prove insufficient. If you're running in Japanese locale but you're still getting garbled text/mojibake in programs, GO TO REGION AND LANGUAGE AND CHANGE "FORMAT" TO JAPANESE. Don't wind up posting this shit in the thread. If you get an error message in a game, HIT CTRL+C ON THE ERROR MESSAGE to copy it to your clipboard. Run it through Google Translate, and if that doesn't help post it in the thread. DON'T TAKE A SCREENSHOT OF THE ERROR MESSAGE, because that's fucking dumb. MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE ARCHIVED THREADS IF YOU ENCOUNTER A PROBLEM. If you're playing something popular, chances are someone might have had the same issue in the past and it may have already been solved. If you get an error starting a game made in RPG Maker, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE PROPER RUN-TIME PACKAGE INSTALLED. The RMVX Ace RTP WILL NOT work with RMVX, and vice versa. You can get them all here: English: http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/download/additional/run-time-packages Japanese: https://tkool.jp/support/download/index (for RPGMaker 2000 RTP) DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND JUST INSTALL THEM ALL. Seriously, if you post asking "why did D&P/VH/Virgin Island crash" and it turns out you didn't install the RTP or installed the wrong RTP you're going to be called a fucking idiot. Don't get mad about objective facts! And most importantly - if you have to ask, it probably isn't translated! Run some simple searches on the name before posting, it saves everybody's time. In plenty of cases, games can be machine translated using appropriate software. Those tend to convey the general message across, even if the outcome is often confusing and full of bean paste. >>>>>>>>>> [pt.03] Places to Find Games <<<<<<<<<< The first place to look and get accustomed with is DLsite Maniax. http://www.dlsite.com/maniax/ It is the retailer of many Hgames that hgg2D has an interest in and catalogs them all with "RJ" codes. For example Dungeons and Prisoners RJ# is RJ113419. Type that RJ code into google and you'll find a whole bunch of sites that refer to it and even the DLsite by that. However you should remember to use the Japanese name when searching for a download because most uploads will not include the RJ code in title. The other major retailer you should be familiar with is DMM. http://www.dmm.co.jp/dc/doujin On rare occasions, games may become available on DMM and not DLsite and vice-versa. If you really want to keep tabs on releases, you'll be checking both sites regularly. That said, DLSite and DMM aren't places for free games however. And in that case you'll want to check out and rely on the following: >/hgg2D/ Game Archive - Consists mostly of English translated games, EOP friendly. *Check the OP for the current bin as it is updated regularly.* >Recommended Games - An old listing of games that is no longer updated. YMMV. http://pastebin.com/9M5RRMGU >/hgg2d/ Gotw Catalog: Another old listing of games that is no longer updated. YMMV. https://pastebin.com/kYYvnMk8 >ULMF - Good for recent games, translation projects, and RPGMaker stuff especially. http://www.ulmf.org/bbs/forumdisplay.php?f=6 >Nyaa Replacements https://sukebei.pantsu.cat https://sukebei.nyaa.is >Tokyo Toshokan (aka TT) https://tokyotosho.info >BNG9900s folders - An uploader's huge archive of commercial H-games going from 2012 June to 2015 May when he sadly ceased activity. If your desired game is within that range you can probably find it here. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B6TzNOCR6pY4YURmaTkzZk04R3M The latest version of BNG9900s folders is on his Eyny page, but the uploads get deleted after some time. >Anime-Sharing (aka A-S) - Links to lots of games are usually put on here but unfortunately they are mostly hosted through uploading sites with waiting times, limited downloading speed and download limits. Check the torrents forum if you feel the need for speed. http://www.anime-sharing.com/forum/ >ErogeDownload - Good for recently-released VNs and eroge from MangaGamer or JAST. http://www.erogedownload.com/ >The Asenheim Project - Lots of old '80s and '90s eroge, some translated, that you can play online. http://asenheim.org/ >SANIC HEGEHOD (torrent magnet) - A huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge assortment of lots of different kinds of eroge. (25/12/2017) magnet:?xt=urn:btih:42E2F8318BDAC8C8DD55D439FEB6FF97C865C1C5&dn=SANIC_HEGEHOD+4TH+EDITION&tr=udp://tracker.coppersurfer.tk:6969/announce&tr=udp://tracker.uw0.xyz:6969/announce https://sukebei.pantsu.cat/view/2382810 Or for a more up to date version, go to erogames.website, click on the game you want to download, and paste the command into irc.rizon.net while using an IRC client, such as mIRC or HexChat. The threads are always here, too, to answer any recommendations for specific things. >>>>>>>>>> [pt.04] How to Navigate Yourself in Japanese Games <<<<<<<<<< As many games are only available in their home language of Japanese you may or may not have trouble getting through them without some sort of guidance. That's where the following programs will assist. Programs marked with a * require usage of hook codes. Despite build-in text thread detection, some games make grabbing text from them more difficult than others due to the way they've been coded and that's where these mythical hook codes help programs get them right. You can find some of these in relevant pastebins, or just googling for something like "gamename agth ith h-code". The agthDB is dead now >Offline Translators Download: mega.nz/#!6pJX0QzI!ZaE1lrK7VmDUuymC0iAKzas2iNFRTGH6BXDjOdAcj_o This archive contains both Atlas and LEC. Follow directions for setting up your offline translators, link them with your translation environment, and never rely on Google or Bing again. Make sure to set your date back before 2009 to install the trial /hgg/ Machine Translation Guide: https://pastebin.com/i6k9krCP **RPG maker MV games require you to patch with the MV patch in order to MTL** **New wolfRPG games require an individual hook code to MTL** >Chiitrans lite Download: http://alexbft.github.io/chiitrans/ChiitransLite.msi Patch for google translate: https://mega.nz/#!Qm4hBDiS!dIkD17EOpxgjNk0q-OiVnsWUVUCinuex3i-j_bp6G_0 Replace translators.js and translators.coffee in "{Install location}\Chiitrans Lite\www\js" with the files in the zip to enable google translate. Once installed, Open chiitrans lite and click "Options" Make sure "Capture text from Clipboard" is checked and then click on translation. Choose whether you want to see source only (Japanese), translations only (English)[recommended] or both at the same time. Click on additional translators and choose the ones you want to use (recommended Google and/or Atlas). Click OK, then OK again to save your settings. While the game is running, choose the process from the dropdown (usually game.exe), open the .exe file using the folder button or select the window with the window button and click connect. The game should now be translated in the translation window as you play. If you are getting a blank box when hooking with chiitrans lite, then use ITH VNR as a workaround Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8zjhfxys78r0bfs/ITHVNR-3.5640.1-win32.zip Mirror: https://mega.nz/#!UrRDxQjL!dkhAmM6MgMgDJ1V7QWAEnpoVKT27uc2ug9rro0A9sDk >Visual Novel Reader Download: https://mega.co.nz/#F!g00SQJZS!pm3bAcS6qHotPzJQUT596Q **This program is not suggested if you doubt your computers performance or are concerned about space ***Development on VNR has ceased, No longer recommended since it's obsolete bloatware now. Use Chiitrans lite instead. >Translation Aggregator* Info: http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php/94395-Translation-Aggregator-v0-4-9 Download with a portable version of LEC pre-installed also contains the Edict file from 21/10/2017: https://mega.nz/#!8mxhTKAB!lsK_a1a5euggBW9VhC5d72nyYMZUKY_SpN60_tvEYQc Make sure to uncheck "Translate windows menus with Atlas" in "Additional Options" when hooking or else you will get an error. >Latest Jparser Edict File Download: http://ftp.monash.edu/pub/nihongo/edict2.gz Place edict2.gz in Translation Aggregator's dictionaries folder and delete any other edict files that were in there. >Interactive Text Hooker* Wiki: https://code.google.com/p/interactive-text-hooker/w/list Download: https://code.google.com/p/interactive-text-hooker/ >Anime Games Text Hooker* Manual: https://sites.google.com/site/agthook/manual Download: https://sites.google.com/site/agthook/ >>>>>>>>>> [pt.05] How to Apply Translation Patches <<<<<<<<<< *The following procedure is for applying translations patches to RPGMaker games!* >First before extracting a game make SURE you are in Japanese locale, no work arounds like an emulator or you might as well find another outlet for assistance. Once you have do the following steps: 1. Download https://mega.nz/#!ChZ3lYQD!AM4LUPDWoklrnbZK0KfOQEpsSDsW5cfqyuoBHY1MsmQ 2. Run the EXE 3. File -> Open File -> Navigate to folder containing game and open the Game.rgss 4. Tools -> Extract All 4a. There should now be a a new folder where the extraction tool is located named "extract" 5. Copy everything in "extract" and paste into game directory 6. Copy contents of translation folder into game directory 7. Remove or rename game.rgss in the game directory <------------ If your game STILL remains in Japanese double check and make SURE you did this step *I recommend renaming so you can always fall back on the data contained in the file* 8. Play game. *The following procedure is for applying translation patches to WOLFRPG games!* 1. Find and download Arc Converter. 2. Run and select the game's data.wolf file. 3. Rename the new "data.wolf" folder to just "data". 4. Copy-paste the translation's files into the data folder. 5. Remove or rename data.wolf in the game directory. 6. Play game. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< If there are any further questions or anything goes wrong, read this list up and down and make sure you did every single step. If problems persist in the process you may ask in /hgg2d/ however chances are you'll be met with heavy skepticism towards your intelligence. ****At this point, you should consider yourself informed. If you ask a question in the threads that has already been answered here, you revoke any right to not be told to FUCK OFF.****
